Here in the Netherlands, nature is especially beautiful in spring. Just as you begin to enjoy the delicate snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils, and muscari start to appear. This wonderful procession of flowers continues until May, when the trees begin to blossom — a truly breathtaking sight.
I have a special love for the simplest snowdrops. Perhaps because in Siberia, where I come from, snowdrops do not grow. Our nature there is harsh, and the very first flowers are dandelions, which I love just as much.
After a long winter, painting snowdrops feels like a small escape into freedom. If the weather is cool, they bloom for a long time, but this year spring warmth arrived quickly, and I had to capture them before they disappeared in the sun.
These paintings are my snowdrops — a small series inspired by their fragile beauty: a forest path and a gentle cluster of snowdrops in fresh green grass
